Atlantic City and its surrounding environs are rich with culture and history. There are activities to enjoy and sites to see for explorers of all ages. Here are a few opportunities for you to really experience Atlantic City!

Absecon Lighthouse: Climb the 228 steps of  New Jersey's tallest lighthouse for a 360 degree view of Atlantic City.

African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey: with locations in Atlantic City and nearby Newtonville, see the exhibits and learn about the rich heritage of the area's African Americans.

Atlantic City Aquarium: Set in Gardner's Basin, watch a scuba diver hand feed live sharks and sting rays. Feed sharks and sting rays in a 900 gallon, interactive exhibit. Learn about local and exotic aquatic life!

Atlantic City Art Center: The Atlantic City Arts Center, located on Garden Pier, boasts an exhibit gallery over the ocean.

Atlantic City Ballet: Atlantic City's resident dance company.

Atlantic City Free Public Library: in addition to books, magazines, movies and computer access, the library houses the Atlantic City Heritage Collections, as well as special exhibits and programs.

Atlantic City Historical Museum on Garden Pier: the Atlantic City Historical Museum features permanent and rotating exhibits highlighting the unique history of Atlantic City.

Atlantic County Historical Society: The Atlantic Heritage Center maintains a museum collection of over 20,000 items related to greater Atlantic County history and a research  library. It also operates tours of the Risley Homstead historic house.

Boardwalk Hall Organs: Tour the world's largest pipe organ and get a behind the scenes look at Boardwalk Hall.

Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge: Part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Wildlife Refuge System, the Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge is perfect for those who love the outdoors and wildlife photography.

Gardner's Basin: One of many sites in Atlantic City used for smuggling alcohol during Prohibition. Enjoy lunch, enjoy a boat ride, or enjoy the view!

Lucy the Elephant: Constructed in 1881, Lucy the Elephant is the oldest example of zoomorphic architecture in the United States. Take a tour of Lucy and climb to the top of her howdah.

The Noyes Arts Garage Stockton College: The Arts Garage houses 15 artist studios, galleries, shops, a cafĂ©, a flexible classroom studio, and hosts special events throughout the year.  It includes a 1,200 square ft. satellite gallery of The Noyes Museum of Art and the new home of the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey.
